I attended a recent wine dinner at J Gilbert's for Duckhorn wine and it was a wonderful experience. Each wine was perfectly paired- my favorite being the dessert pairing. The wine and food portions were nicely sized, and the chef and wine rep were friendly, knowledgeable and easy to talk to. I've been to wine dinners/tastings at other venues where you're often seated at tables with other guests so I appreciated that I was able to sit with my group only. Service was 10/10!
We dined at J Gilbert's this week and were amazed with the fabulous full rack of ribs(the best anywhere), delicious home made mashed potatoes, a wonderful corn niblets w/bacon, and fabulous service. Seated by the ever accommodating ast mngr Justin, we ordered perfectly concocted drinks by the venerable bartender FARMUS. GM Matt made sure that everything was perfect. Served by a lovely Ecuadorian young lady(charming husband also serves). In all, the food surpasses our other favorite GAR(Patsy's and Sweetwater).
The food was great, and it was a good medium between empty and crowded, and had a good murmur of voices. Our server, Meghan G. was great. I ordered a mocktail, and it didn't come with my meal. I asked her about it, and it turned out that they were out of an ingredient in it. She offered me a lemonade on the house as an apology, which was fine, I didn't care that much anyway. However, she came back promptly with the lemonade and a version of my original drink without the missing ingredient, both on the house. Throughout this, she was professional and sympathetic. Fantastic service.
I like j Gilbert's. We have dined there since it opened. We had a birthday event for my mother which was wonderful. We have enjoyed the food, the service and the ambience. Today we ordered lunch to take out. My wife enjoyed the steak and wedge salad. Very good. The bread was also super. I chose the chicken c and salad. Everything was wonderful except to refer to chicken in the menu there should be more than a few bits of the product. I could joke about a microscope or a stethoscope to located the item, but no, just a friendly suggestion from one friend to another "where's the _____? Your loyal customer Arnold

1st of all - I came during the restaurant week so I can't really complain about the parking situation but I had to park over at McDonald and walk my ass over... other than that... Food + service + ambient + staff + server (Austin) were on point! Above and beyond! Drinks topped off Checking in every so many minutes Keeping us engaged Brought bread - hot Foods - hot Desserts - cold I will definitely be back and recommend others to try J. Gilbert's!
LOVE J. Gilbert's!!! I have been coming here for years. Their food, ambiance and service has always been consistent. The restaurant is very welcoming and love the décor. Anything you order is delish! My favorite dishes are: Wagyu Burger & Shrimp Durango They have a great Brunch too! One of my favorite places for Brunch. They have so many options! Too many to list! You can make reservations, sit at the bar or walk-in. I recommend making reservations since they do get busy. They have free surface parking around the restaurant. Tip: Sign up for their emails because they have promotions, coupons and free entrée with a purchase of an entrée for your birthday every year
Beautiful, classy, clean, bar I'll go too. I'm not a huge bar person but Gilbert's is to my liking. Their cucumber mocktail is Devine~ And my go to is always their calamari, I wish they would put more calamari and less peppers,,. They look sad and wilted. But overall the taste is great. I do love their wedge salad as well. Guys seem to love their potato thing that they have. Service is great, they're all very helpful. Sorry it took so long for me to leave a review. Hope this place never goes away because it has that vibe of old school class gentlemen's bar/ food place. Love it.
